I remember walking into the kitchen one day as a little girl. Yes, little girl. I can't remember my age, so I must have been very young. I remember seeing my dad (Harvey Kozlowski) sitting at the kitchen table taping flames onto his racing helmet. I can't remember if I asked him if I could help or if he asked me if I wanted to give it a try but either way I sat with my dad and started taping away.
I remember working so hard on that helmet. The tricks I learned that day, I still use till this day. Don't get wrinkles in the tape. Don't stretch the tape as you place your flames and much more. Now keep in mind, I was very young at this time. My flames have since then improved so much but back then during that ever so important learning stage; I will just say practice make perfect. I thought they were great, the best. I was so proud. I thought they were awesome. Looking back, they were bad, really bad. This goes to tell you how wonderful of a man my dad was. He wore that helmet proudly to the races.
